Startupuj: Great ideas and great experience for students

Four schools, 77 teams, 12 finalists and one winner. The Startupuj finals brought exciting competitions for the best entrepreneurial project and showed that high school students have great ideas and the courage to implement them.

A full house and an expert jury of practitioners

The final evening took place in front of a full hall, where students presented their projects to a four-member expert jury made up of practitioners:

  • Lukáš Brchl – Dronetag
  • Maria Šimůnková – Nekrachni
  • Linda Rey González – Vetlímce
  • Kristián Cholinský – Effectix

Each team was given a few minutes to present their idea and then answer the jury’s questions. The students had to defend their project, explain their business model and convince the experts that their idea made sense.

Who won

The winner of Startupuj was the PET2Print team from Church Grammar School, who came up with a solution to recycle plastic using a special bin and turn it into filament.

The competition was high and all the teams deserve credit for the way they tackled the challenge. Startup is not just about winning – it’s about experience, learning and the courage to do things differently. And that’s exactly what the students managed to do with flying colours.

A great experience for future entrepreneurs

The Startupuj programme helps students to understand how entrepreneurship works and gives them the chance to try working on their own project from idea to pitching it to investors.
By involving mentors from the field, they get real feedback and learn to think strategically about business.
